Cookie Policy
Last updated: 27 February 2026
1. Our Approach to Cookies
CodeClaim takes a privacy-preserving approach to cookies. We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to function, plus Google Analytics to help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
2. Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in to your account | Session / 30 days | Essential |
| theme | Stores your light/dark mode preference | 1 year | Essential |
| dev-access | Development environment access gate (dev only) | Session | Essential |
| _ga / _ga_* | Google Analytics — distinguishes unique visitors and tracks page views so we can understand how the site is used | Up to 2 years | Analytics |
3. What We Do Not Use
- No advertising or marketing cookies
- No social media tracking pixels
- No cross-site tracking beyond Google Analytics
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, time on site, and general geographic region. This helps us understand how people use CodeClaim so we can improve the product. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (prefixed _ga) to distinguish unique visitors. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Our payment processor (Stripe) may set cookies during the checkout process for fraud prevention. These are essential for processing payments securely and are governed by Stripe's own cookie policy.
6. Managing Cookies
Since we only use essential cookies, disabling them may prevent the Service from functioning correctly (e.g. you will not be able to stay signed in). You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and implement a cookie consent mechanism before doing so.
8. Contact
If you have questions about our use of cookies, contact us at hello@jelifish.co.uk. For more about how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
